Project Resource Manual

< Back to Resources
The new Project Resource Manual contains descriptions of the written and graphic documents prepared or assembled by the Architect/Engineer for communicating the project design intent for constructing and administering the construction contract.

Additionally, the PRM has been expanded to cover the entire life cycle of a facility, from conception to deconstruction. The PRM now covers all aspects of the project process leading to the construction and use of a facility. It includes the activities of owners in project conception and project delivery. It includes expanded aspects of design and procurement, as well as construction and facility management.

This new edition considers the need for interdependent processes of planning, design, construction, and facility use. The Fifth edition expands the scope of the manual to meet the requirements of all participants involved in a construction project, in a stage-by-stage progression, including owners, A/Es, design-builders, contractors, construction managers, product representatives, financial institutions, regulatory authorities, attorneys, and facility managers to assist in:
  • Understanding the roles and responsibilities of the four project teams: Owner Team, Design Team, Contractor Team, and Supplier Team

  • Determining the most appropriate project delivery method

  • Understanding the design process and product selection

  • Preparing accurate and enforceable specifications applying the CSI/CSC UniFormat™, MasterFormat™, SectionFormat™, and PageFormat™ for clear, concise, correct, and complete contract documents

  • Coordinating, interpreting, and enforcing contract documents

  • Effectively administering construction contracts

  • Improving communication among project participants

  • Utilizing project resources for effective facility management

  • Planning for existing facility improvements and modifications
