The Houston CSI Foundation is a non-profit corporation established by the Houston Texas Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute to promote education in the field of architecture, engineering, and construction sciences and technology.
The Construction Specifications Institute has expressed its Core Purpose: "To improve the process of creating and sustaining the built environment". Toward that purpose, CSI’s Mission Statement states: "The Construction Specifications Institute advances the process of creating and sustaining the built environment for the benefit of the construction community by using the diversity of its members to enhance knowledge".
In support of the Mission Statement of CSI, The Foundation’s objective is to advance construction technology, documentation, and communication throughout the design and construction communities through education at all levels within the industry.
Since its inception in 1974, the Houston CSI Foundation has contributed many thousands of dollars in the form of scholarships and other means toward their objectives.
Through the diversity of its members, CSI has provided technical expertise and examples of construction technology to several institutions of learning in the Greater Houston area including secondary schools as well as colleges and universities.
Currently the Foundation supports CSI Student Affiliate organizations at two local universities:
The University of Houston and Prairie View A & M.
Board of Directors
The Houston CSI Foundation is governed by its Board Of Directors which consists of individuals from within the design and construction industry in the greater Houston area. Directors are elected by the Houston Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute and serve three year terms.
