The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is an individual membership association that provides technical information and products, continuing education, professional conferences, and product shows to enhance communication among all disciplines of the nonresidential building design and construction industry and meet the industry's need for a common system of organizing and presenting construction information.

Mission Statement

The Construction Specification Institute advances the process of creating and sustaining the built environment for the benefit of the construction community by using the diversity of its members to exchange knowledge. The strength of CSI is measured by the vitality and accomplishments of its chapters. The activities of the chapters have always made and will to make the Institute a leader in the construction industry.

Continuing Education Programs

CSI offers an array of continuing education opportunities. Topics include construction contract administration, selling to architects, and specifications writing, principles and practices. Other topics include avoiding building failures, specifying for renovation, restoration, and adaptive reuse projects, and using CSI's Uniform Drawing System (an organizational tool that is doing for drawings what CSI's MasterFormat has done for written construction documents).

For more information on CSI's educational programs see the Education page.

Chapter Meetings

The Houston Chapter of CSI conducts eleven regular meetings, on the fourth Monday of every month, January through November. The meetings are held at the H.E.S.S.
